A very warm welcome to my dear readers. We all have dreams and some more dreams to pursue those dreams ๐Ÿ˜› . And we keep planning and envisioning but, there’s always either lack of time, money, will, motivation and “life is keeping me so busy” context to it. Then, there are a few who break the chains and ignite the torch to lead the way and do what life is all about, a motive to achieve, a dream to live, a cause to fulfill.

Today I would like to introduce you to someone who is young, calm, motivated and carries a vision. This blog is dedicated to his beautiful cause and journey and I am honored to be a part of it. I hold the pen on his behalf, but the words belong to him. I decided to feature this guy on my blog and pen down his experiences for him, for I believe in the cause and appreciate his vision and dedication to it. So stay tuned for the journey has just begun…

โ€œA dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work.โ€   -Colin Powell

To start with, my name is Aftab Faridi and I am 23 years old. I am one of the few lucky ones who got the opportunity to make my hobby as my career and life has never been the same ever since.

Being a professional athlete and a team member and certified technician with an international sports brand, there is nothing more I could have asked for. A beautiful bike, exposure to the emerging technology in sports, priceless training programs to enhance my skills, a conducive environment to grow as an individual and not as a shadow, I had it all. Racing, competing, learning, coaching, kept me occupied, but there stayed an unknown desire to be part of something bigger, bigger than I could think of. And my quest ended a few months back.

There is an aspect to every nation, which is strong yet ignored at times. Yes you guessed it right, itโ€™s our soldiers. The legends in the form of humans. The ones who keep our desire of freedom and existence alive, making us feel warm and comfortable irrespective of whatever they may have to endure to fulfill it. As the thought got etched in my mind, the desperation to display my gratitude towards them got stronger. I wanted to scream my lungs out to tell them how much I and the people of this great nation love and respect them. That each moment they spend watching our backs, is what I would love to give back to them.

At times you have the destination in sight, but charting the way through is an uphill task. It took me some time, rather a few months of brainstorming and sleepless nights to find my route to the destination. Pedal – thatโ€™s what I am best at, and probably this is what I trained for up until now. And thus was born my dream, โ€œPedal for Soldiersโ€.

North to South, East to West, meet as many as I could, listen to their stories, share their meals, laugh and cry with them and tell them how thankful as a nation we are for we are because they chose to sacrifice. And to make it even more special and exclusive for them, I have decided to attempt and create a world record for the longest distance covered on a cycle and dedicate it to the brave hearts of Mother India.

A mother nurtures a child for 9 months before it is born and so will I. The attempt would be to cover 30000 km pan India in a span of 9 months covering 100 โ€“ 150 km on an average every day. Charting unknown territories, challenges would be plenty, but my spirit and intent would keep rolling like the two wheels of my ride, for a soldier will fight long and hard for a bit of colored ribbon.IMG-20180817-WA0026.jpg
